This article applies to Arc on macOS and Windows.
What is Peek?
Peek is a convenient way to quickly preview links without leaving your current Pinned Tab.
Simply click on a new link from a Pinned or Favorited Tab, and Arc will automatically open that tab in Peek rather than as a new tab! You can then do a quick action on Peek and close it without interruption.
Shortcuts
- To open Peek in a new tab: Hit the expand button arrows or Command-O (macOS) or Control-O (Windows).
- To open Peek in a Split View: Hit the Split View button.
- To close Peek: Click outside the Peek window, hit the X button, Command-W(macOS) or Control-W (Windows).
Turn Off Peek in Arc
If you want links to always open in a New Tab and never open in Peek, you can turn Peek off in Arc for macOS.
To turn off Peek:
- Open Settings from Arc > Settings in the Mac Menu Bar or the Command-Comma shortcut
- Click Links
- Toggle off Open a Peek window when clicking on links to other sites
Note: You will be able to disable Peek in a future version of Arc for Windows. Until then all links clicked in Pinned and Favorite tabs will open in a Peek tab by default.
