If Arc for desktop is stuck using a search engine that you're unable to change, this is likely due to an issue with an extension. Don't worry, this is an easy problem to address — complete the following steps to fix it:
macOS
- Go to Extensions > Manage Extensions in the Mac Menu bar then toggle all extensions to off.
- Go to Arc > Settings > Profiles to verify your preferred search engine is selected in the related Profile.
- Open a new tab and run a test search query to confirm that the query is done in your preferred search engine.
- Go back to Extensions > Manage Extensions and toggle your extensions on (one at a time). After enabling each extension, open a new tab and run a test search query to confirm that the query is done in your preferred search engine.
- Once you find the extension causing the issue, remove (or uninstall) it by clicking ‘Remove’ in Manage Extensions.
