Moving from Arc to Dia only takes a few clicks. Dia imports your Spaces, Favorites, pinned tabs, folders, bookmarks, history, passwords and extensions straight from Arc to Dia, and is available on both macOS and Windows. Please note that Arc is being sunset on December 22, 2026, so we recommend making the move before then.
If you use Arc Search for iOS or Android, read Arc Sunset: Key Dates and What to Expect to learn what's changing.
What is Dia?
Love Arc? Meet Dia. Dia is built by the same team that made Arc, and it brings along the Arc details you rely on, like the sidebar, pinned tabs, folders and the Tab Switcher. Your Spaces become Profiles you can swipe and choose to share data between, and you get more speed and even more security. Dia is free to download for macOS and Windows at diabrowser.com/download.
How do I move from Arc to Dia?
To move from Arc to Dia, download Dia at diabrowser.com/download and select Arc when Dia asks which browser to import from. Dia takes care of the rest.
- Download Dia at diabrowser.com/download and open it.
- When Dia asks which browser you'd like to import from, select Arc.
- Choose which of your extensions to install in Dia.
Once the import finishes, your Spaces, pinned tabs and folders are right where you left them, and you're signed in to your sites. Because you're coming from Arc, Dia skips the setup steps the import already handled, like choosing your pinned tabs.
On Windows, make sure to quit Arc before you start. If Arc is still open, Dia shows a Cookies file locked message. Simply select Close to have Dia close Arc and continue the import.
Please note that Dia finds your Arc data through the Arc app, so keep Arc installed until your import finishes.
I already use Dia. How do I import from Arc?
You can import from Arc at any time before December 22, 2026:
- On macOS, navigate to Dia > Import from Another Browser… in the Mac menu bar and select Arc.
- On Windows, open the Dia app menu, select Import from another browser…, then select Arc.
Each Arc Space you import becomes a new Profile in Dia, so nothing already in Dia changes.
Will Dia look like Arc after I import?
Yes. When you import from Arc during setup, Dia switches to the sidebar layout, just like Arc. On macOS, Dia also adds new tabs to the top of the sidebar.
What comes over from Arc?
- Spaces become Profiles. Each Space you import becomes a Dia Profile with its own tabs, in the same order and colors you had in Arc. Profiles allow you to choose to share data between them just like Spaces in Arc.
- Favorites become icon-only pinned tabs at the top of your window.
- Pinned tabs stay pinned. Arc pinned tabs come over as pinned tabs and keep their titles.
- Folders become pinned Tab Groups. Each folder becomes a named pinned Tab Group. Folders inside other folders become their own Tab Groups, since Dia doesn't nest Tab Groups.
- Custom tab names are kept for your Favorites and pinned tabs.
- GitHub Live Folders become Live Groups. Your GitHub Live Folders come over as Live Groups that keep your pull requests up to date.
- Your browsing data comes too. Bookmarks, history, passwords, cookies (so you stay signed in to your sites), extensions and open tabs all come over.
What doesn't come over from Arc?
Easels, Boosts and other Arc-only features don't come over to Dia. Dia also doesn't import saved payment methods or autofill data from any browser.
Do my Profiles share data like my Spaces did?
Yes. Spaces from the same Arc profile become Dia Profiles that share logins, passwords, history, bookmarks and extensions, just like in Arc. Spaces from different Arc profiles stay separate.
Does importing change anything in Arc?
No. Importing copies your data into Dia and doesn't change or delete anything in Arc. You can keep using Arc until it's sunset on December 22, 2026.
Can I move Arc Search to Dia?
