• Boosts with Javascript will no longer be automatically enabled across devices. As part of this change, we've disabled all Javascript Boosts, allowing you to choose which ones you'd like to re-enable. To enable a Boost on a specific device, just hit CMD+T and type "View Boosts."
• If you'd prefer to turn off all Boost-related features, there's now a global toggle in Advanced Settings.
• This update includes a Chromium upgrade.
• Addition on Sept 27, 2024: We patched a back-end issue so that Easels only embed trusted video players. You can find the team's writeup right here.

• Filtering Out Declined Events for Live Calendars: Thanks to Ben, Live Calendars now ensure you're not notified of declined events, making your calendar cleaner and more up-to-date.
• Two Bug Fixes for Live Calendars: Freddy resolved an issue preventing members from joining calendar events directly from Google Calendar, and Ben fixed another issue that caused Live Calendar previews to freeze upon dismissal. Props to the team for the big updates to Live Calendars this week. Also, a very special thank you to our Early Birds who helped us diagnose a related issue!
• Downloads Performance Improvements: By making the downloads history page more responsive, Alex helped drive performance improvements for downloading large files, making the process more efficient and reliable, especially for videos.
• Support for macOS 12 is ending soon: After July 11th, Arc will no longer receive fixes or features on macOS 12. If this impacts you, we recommend updating your system to ensure your browser remains stable and secure. Kudos to Max for leading us through this transition.

• Updated Previews Menu in Settings: Alex has simplified the menu for selecting which Previews you can view in Arc, making it clearer and easier to use. You can find the new UI under Arc > Settings > General > Previews Settings.
• Dynamic Command Bar When Switching Spaces: The Command Bar, which previously remained static when switching Spaces, now updates dynamically when shifting to a new Space. Kudos to Alex for making it easier to find relevant Command Bar queries while in the Space of your choice.
• Join Active Meetings with Control + Command + J: On the heels of last week’s Live Calendars launch, Jasdev has enabled you to use Control + Command + J to join an active meeting from your calendar. That means the next time your Live Calendar notifies you to join a meeting, Control + Command + J will take you there with an easy click (note: if you’d like, you can remap this shortcut in Settings). If you use Google Calendar, be sure to pin it to your Favorites and try Live Calendars today!
• Switch to Arc Sync Today: We’re saying goodbye to iCloud Sync and replacing it with Arc Sync. Navigate to Arc > Settings today and turn on our new and improved sync for a better experience.

• Live Calendars: Now, when Google Calendar is pinned as a favorite in your Sidebar, you’ll be able to see your upcoming meetings at a glance. When it’s time for the meeting to start, a “Join” button will automatically appear in your Sidebar — allowing you to jump into your next video call with one click. To change your Live Calendar’s updates, just right-click the calendar icon and adjust its settings. Huge shoutout to Ben and Connor for bringing your Sidebar to life with this feature!
• Phasing Out Instant Links Edu: When you search using the Command Bar, you’ll no longer see the Shift+Enter icons indicating the shortcut for the Instant Links feature. But don’t worry! You can still use the feature by clicking Shift+Enter after typing your query — immediately taking you to the first link at the top of your Google search. Props to Rishi for simplifying Arc’s UI.
• Improved Favicon Caching for Synced Tabs: Props to Andrzej for resolving an issue that caused mobile favicons to sometimes disappear after restarting the app. Now, when you pin a tab on Arc Search, you’ll see the mobile favicons alongside your desktop tabs every time.

• Enhanced Arc Sync Copy & UX: Andrzej has made enabling Arc Sync even easier with improved copy and more streamlined UX. Head to Arc > Settings > General to turn on our new-and-improved encrypted Sync. As a reminder, we’ll be saying goodbye to our legacy iCloud Sync functionality in the coming months.
• Chromium Reader Mode Removal: Following Chromium’s official deprecation of Reader Mode, Mateusz removed our beta version of the feature from Arc.
• Easy Access for Full Page Capture: Thanks to a suggestion from an offsite panelist, and an update from Jasdev, we’ve made Portrait Mode for full-page captures even easier. Just hold “Option” while clicking the “Capture the full page” button in the Site Control Center (located in the URL bar). Also, if you’re in Developer Mode, holding “Option” while clicking the Portrait Mode button now captures with default settings to avoid an extra step.
• Early Birds Shoutout: Major props to our Early Birds members for their invaluable help in avoiding not one, but two last-minute serious regressions. Your support and feedback are very appreciated, as always!

• Introducing Auto Updates: Arc can now update itself automatically while your computer is idle—such as when your screensaver is active or when your screen is locked. Additionally, updates won't occur if you have active media playing; instead, they'll be rescheduled for later.
• Sleeker Update Banner: Update notifications now start in a collapsed form, freeing up your screen space. Simply hover over them to see the full banner and access a new gradient button. We've also reduced the Auto Update request process to a single step.
• Session Restoration Update: Arc now restores the browsing state upon restarting for all users. This eliminates the need to manually reopen tabs from previous session, allowing for a more seamless experience.
• Auto-Archive EDU: New members will now see a banner — displayed once — introducing the Auto Archive feature, letting them know that inactive tabs have been automatically archived for better organization.

• The Toolbar now renders in Peeked tabs! To toggle on the setting, hit Command T and type "Show Toolbar."

• Introducing GitHub Live Folders! Once you create a PR, Arc will automatically create a Live Folder that's populated with all your latest PRs and review requests. Right click on the Live Folder to filter for relevant projects.
• Arc Settings have been given the redesign they deserve! Settings should now be easier to find, scan and understand. Head to Arc > Settings in the Mac Menu Bar to control everything from Profiles and Auto Archive to Arc Max.
• The New Update Available and post-Update Summary banners have been redesigned to better blend with your sidebar.

• For Arc Toolbar users, we've added a subtle divider separating the toolbar from your web content. You can turn on the Arc Toolbar by going to View > Show Toolbar. You can turn it off by going to View > Hide Toolbar.
• We're unshipping the Command Bar actions EDU that reminds you how to search through command bar actions. Actions still exist if you hit Tab instantly after hitting CMD T.
• We're unshipping Paste & Go. We found that the utility of the feature was not worth the added UX.
• Companies can now enforce turning off Arc Max (a suite of AI features) via Chromium's enterprise policy API. The policy is called arcMaxDisabledByOrgPolicy.
• Overflow text in the Mini Audio Player will now marquee so you can fully read long media titles.
• We've fixed a bug that caused the icon of pinned extensions to render incorrectly.

• Your tabs on Arc for Mac will now sync with Arc for Windows (beta)! Simply sign in with the same email on both devices and make sure our new Syncing feature is turned on in Arc > Settings > Account.
• We now use your chosen App Icon in the Quit dialog, rather than always using the default.
• Links closed from Little Arc now live in the Archive. Visit them by going to CMD + T and typing "View Archive," then filtering for Little Arc.
• We now support F12 as a shortcut for opening Developer Tools.
• We've fixed text alignment of Space menu items that have no icon.
• When importing from a previous browser profile that had some extensions pinned, we'll be sure to pin those same extensions in Arc too.

• You can now export your Arc Notes. In our effort to simplify Arc, we’ll be slowly deprecating Arc Notes over the coming weeks. For now, notes are still available to create and edit, but you’ll see alerts reminding you about the phase-out and an option to export whenever you open a note. You can also export at any time by hitting CMD T and typing “Export Arc Notes.”
• When dragging a tab to create a Split View in the Pinned section, we now keep your Split Tab in place, rather than moving it to the Today section.
• We've fixed a bug in Easel that sometimes caused missing presence cursors.
• We fixed a bug that showed a loading indicator on all Spaces when organizing Today Tabs (via the Tidy Tabs icon) in a single Space.
• We've improved the performance of the Command Bar (CMD T)! Search suggestions will now show up faster as you type.

• We've made some improvements to reduce the CPU usage of tabs when they're in the background.
• We now use Metal, Apple's graphics framework, for rendering tabs on Arm64-based Mac machines. This will help with performance and battery use.

• Introducing Arc Sync – a more reliable sidebar sync without the need for iCloud! Arc Sync allows you to access your sidebar / tabs from any device. Activate it at Arc > Settings > Account by clicking "Turn On" next to the "new sync" notice. For more details, hit CMD T, type "Help Center," and search "Sync." As a heads up, we'll be phasing out old iCloud sync in the coming weeks (with plenty of notice!).
• Introducing Tidy Tabs, our latest Arc Max feature. Press the broom icon at the top of your Today Tabs to let your sidebar organize itself!
• Introducing Instant Links! Browse more quickly, by pressing Search + Shift for any query in your command bar to immediately open the top results.Turn on Instant Links by heading to Arc Settings > Arc Max > Instant Links.
• In GMeet, you can now "Share This Tab Instead" even if the tab is not actively selected. Simply hover over the tab in your sidebar and click the screen-share icon.
• We've adjusted some edge-cases on Easel Sharing permissions, such as being able to re-share edit permissions with someone after you've removed them.
• We've fixed a bug that caused Arc to momentarily lose the ability to accept clicks.

• Introducing Instant Links! Skip the middle man by hitting SHIFT ENTER after typing in CMD T to open new tab(s) instead of going to your search engine first. This is our latest Arc Max feature, and can be turned on in Arc > Settings > Max.
• Google Meet "Share This Tab Instead" is here! While screen-sharing a tab in Meet, a new button will appear directly on your Sidebar tabs to quickly switch which tab is shared instead.
• Skin Tones are now available in our emoji picker for Space / Tab Icons!
• Easily hide your sidebar by dragging the width of your sidebar all the way to the left to collapse it completely.
• We've removed the "Capture" icon on Easel tabs to clean up our UX. To Capture from anywhere, just hit CMD T and type "Capture" or hit CMD SHIFT 2.
• Drag to Split now allows you to pick the the order of your Split View panels by dragging a tab to left or right side of your target tab. We've also improved the drop indicator so it better matches your theme.
• When your Pinned Tabs are collapsed, keyboard navigation to traverse tabs in sidebar now correctly skips over Pinned Tabs.
• All named Spaces allow for collapsed Pinned Tabs (previously not possible for single-Space users). To name your Space, go to Spaces > Rename Space in the Mac Menu Bar.
• We've made some UI fixes to hover states in incognito mode.
• We've (re) launched our improved toast notification UX after some small fixes.
• We've fixed a bug that may have caused new tabs to open when unauthenticated on Atlassian sites.
• We've fixed a bug that prevented new windows from opening in full screen while Arc was in full screen.
• Improvements that make window resizing smoother by leveraging the background color of your website.
• Proactive memory release when we find the system has limited available memory.
